I can’t explain it, but if someone falls or trips, I will laugh instantly. If I am having a bad day or down, I will watch these videos, and I just can’t help myself. If you know me, you know I am clumsy. My husband calls it spastic. I admit, I do find myself in these very situations regularly, and maybe that is why I laugh; I can see it happening to myself.
Let me set the picture. I was working in the office, and the front door was glass and had glass windows on both sides. This provided a very nice view, and it was a slow day. I would find myself looking out this very door a lot on the slow days. As I walked by, I noticed an elderly woman riding a dog in the golf cart. This was a very sweet moment, and my other co-workers came over to look. Another co-worker, whose little legs worked faster than her brain sometimes, excitedly came around the corner. She caught her foot on the rug at the front door which caused her to plummet forward. We all stood there watching in slow motion as she bounced off the floor to ceiling window like a baby bird and fell backwards onto her back like a turtle. She quickly got up and said, “I’m okay!” Another co-worker said, “Well, we can’t take you nowhere!”
She was in fact okay and even laughed with us about it later.
I promise, I do care! Sometimes I just need a minute.
