Midlife Traveling Mayhem

Cleaning out fire pits is a very common work camping job. Sounds simple, right? Well, that all depends. 

The maintenance guys were putting ashes, hot or cold, in the dumpster.  When the service guy came to empty it, the ashes fell all over his truck and he was not happy. The maintenance team had a briefing on not putting ashes in the dumpster anymore and to put them out back at the shop. This is also where they dump the leaf piles.  The next morning, a worker dumped hot ashes into the leaf pile. Yes, your assumption is correct. The leaf pile caught on fire. Smoke was boiling and the supervisor called on radio FIRE!! The fire department had to come out and assist before it caught the woods on fire, which borders the National Forest. The culprit was honest and said, “my bad”. In his defense, he did not put the ashes in the dumpster and put them behind the shop like he was told.  His new nickname is Caveman because he was the first to build fire. LOL 

You only know what you know. Sometimes, expectations and specific directions are needed!
