Midlife Traveling Mayhem

I am a middle aged, married woman with a grown daughter and we work-camp. I am creating this blog to connect a community about midlife, travel, RVing, funny stories, and experiences. Hope you enjoy!

Summerween

My daughter saw a trend on TikTok where people were having summer parties with Halloween decorations. They carved a watermelon into a jack-o-lantern. We love Halloween and watermelon, so we just had to try it.

She carved the watermelon and we put it out on a stump with a candle. It was very cool! The red inside made it glow brightly. The only bad part is that it was messy; the juice dripped out all over the stump from the heat and the candle.

We border the National Forest, so deer are prominent and feel very comfortable around people. We see them around our campsite almost every day. We got up the next morning, and the deer had eaten the watermelon. All that was left was the yellow part of the rind and the candle. It had even licked all the juice from the stump.

It was a fun trend, even though it didn’t last long! I do appreciate the deer for cleaning that up for me. 🤣
